Oftentimes we women put a lot of emphasis on our appearance. Guess what? There is nothing wrong with wanting to look fabulous. I love to dress up and look nice. I actually wish I were in a profession where I could doll up daily. Style and fashion draws my attention. Looking good makes one feel good about themselves. You know that good feeling, when you get a new hair do and a brand new outfit that fits you just right? People notice and pay compliments which makes you feel ever better yet. Most of us have our own individual style. Your family and friends can almost look at a style and say “Now that’s you!”. Maybe it’s a brand of clothing we’re known to wear, a certain cut of a jacket, a hairstyle, a handbag etc..

As I was studying God’s word this week, a verse of scripture spoke loud to my heart, which in turn had me tearing it apart and meditating on much of what I just shared and the following. The chapter is speaking about a virtuous woman. Proverbs 31:25 (KJV) Strength and dignity are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. After I read the scripture it resounded loud in my spirit. Another version of the scripture (NIV) reads: She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. Just wow!

The joy of the Lord is our strength ladies! There are times when we get overwhelmed, flustered, weary and weak. That’s when we need to press into the creator. In His presence there is fullness of joy! When we get filled with HIS joy, we are strengthened.  Dignity is our character, honor, the quality of our being. Listen at that! We love to doll up, get fly, workout to stay in shape etc…making sure the outer man is intact. What about our inner selves? Are we putting just as much emphasis to ensure our inner self is beautiful? Can our family and friends say: “Strength and great character is her style!?” As a matter of fact is God saying? “Yes I know her, she has quality character and is honorable.”

The latter part of the scripture (she can laugh at the days to come.) This is speaking to the virtuous woman being prepared about her future. She’s not just living in the moment. She is fully committed, laboring for her family and home for whatever is to come. She has great hope for her husband, her children and their children! She’s mindful of the legacy being lived out today with hopes that it’s passed down and continued for generations.

May we all be encouraged to prioritize what matters most in this life. Beauty fades, style changes, trends end. Beautifying our minds and hearts are necessary. Let us not neglect our inner man, focusing ONLY on our outer. We were created to shine from the inside out! Much love.
